I came across a book in 1977. It was the one of a "playmate of the month's" favorite books.
For some reason I went out and bought a copy.
It's called "Think and Grow Rich" and was published in 1937 by Napoleon Hill.
It contains's a "what to do and how to do it" philosophy about acquiring riches, both spiritual and material.
Andrew Carnagie (A steel magnate of the late 19th and early 20th century) contracted Napolean Hill (a young journalist at the time who eventually went on to become a successful author and presidential advisor) to spend 20 years researching what were considered the most sucessful men of the time, in order to to analyse and document their methods of success.
Hill gained personal research time with:
Thomas Edison,
Woodrow Wilson,
Henry Ford,
William H. Taft
Clarence Darrow
Alexander Graham Bell
F. W. Woolworth
John D. Rockefeller
to name just a few.
Ultimately, Carnagie wanted Hill to take a concept that Carnagie was already aware of and make it easily available to the masses.
Some excerpts from the book:
There is a power, or a First Cause, or an Intelligence, which permeates every atom of matter, and embraces every unit of energy perceptible to man-that this Infinite Intelligence converts acorns into oak trees, causes water to flow down hill in response to the law of gravity, follows night with day, and winter with summer, each maintaining its proper place and relationship to the other.
This Intelligence may, be induced to aid in transmuting desires into spiritual and material riches.
The Sixth Sense, through which Infinite Intelligence may, and will communicate voluntarily, without any effort from, or demands by, the individual.
The Brain: A Broadcasting And Receiving Station For Thought. Every human brain is capable of picking up vibrations of thought which are being released by other brains.
Master Mind principle: "No two minds ever come together without, thereby, creating a third, invisible, intangible force which may be likened to a third mind."
There comes to your aid, and to do your bidding, with the development of the sixth sense, a "guardian angel" who will open to you at all times the door to the Temple of Wisdom
